The foamed iron material has such features as inexpensive price, low environmental contamination and so on. It is widely used in numerous ways. For example, it can be used as the bulk material of composite, the electromagnetic screening device, the current-collecting device, the sound-absorbing insulation material, the filtration and purification material. The foamed iron is a kind of multipurpose and environmentally free material which is the integration of structure and function.Electrolytic deposition technology was adopted to prepare foamed iron material in the thesis. The processing parameter included the proportion of ingredient in electrolyte (primary salt, auxiliary salt and addition agent), technological conditions (current density, the temperature of electrolyte, and the waveform of current). The performances of this material such as current efficiency, strength of extension, uniformity of electric plating and flexibility were measured. As a result, the optimum technology was determined.The new technology to prepare foamed iron material was established by single factor tests. The batch formula and process conditions were: FeCl2 220 g/L, NH4Cl 200 g/L, MnCl2 20 g/L, C6H17N3O7 40 g/L, pH 4.05.0, temperature 60℃65℃, current density 10A/dm2. The range of high reduction temperature was 920℃960℃.The common foreign ions in electrolyte such as Ca2+, Mg2+ and SO42- which might influence the performance of foamed iron material were investigated in the thesis. The maximal allowable concentration of Mg2+ and SO42- was limited to 50mg.L-1.The maximal allowable concentration of Ca2+ was limited to 250mg.L-1.By this technology, the cathode efficiency of the foamed iron material prepared was more than 95% and the strength of extension reached to 8kg/cm2. The material loop diameter was reached to 18mm. The material had good mechanical property.
