The long-term intimate contact between skin and clothes would lead to friction, inappropriate friction sometimes causes a lot of bause, such as deformation to the apparel, and discomfort or even abrasion to the skin tc. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the tribological properties between fabric and human skin as well as its influencing factors. The paper systematically studied the approach to test the human-fabric tribological properties, and investigated the tribological properties between human skin and common woven/knitted fabrics, and thereby abundance and objectively valid data was obtained. Based on the data, the efforts of testing parameters/ fabric structural parameters/body biological feature on the skin-fabric tribological properties were discussed. The content and conclusions of the paper mainly includes the following parts:1 .A tester was reformed from the yarn strength-elongation tester called XL-1 to record test the variation curve of the frichion force between fabric and human forarm skin. And it had been verified to be a scientific way. And its test methodology was also searched. Three indicators were put forward to describe skin-fabric the tribological properties skin-fabric. These indicators included static friction force (F_s), mean dynamic friction force (F_d) and unevenness value of dynamic friction force (FMD).2.It was observed that the three testing parameters, tension/ testing velocity / the sample width, can effect the testing result. The testing parameters under which the fluction of one curve and the dispersion degree of curves were both small were as follows: the testing velocity was 500mm/min, the sample width was 10cm, the tension was 200cN for the woven fabrics and 60cN for the knits. In order to reduce experiment error, the above testing parameters are recommended for common fabrics. Friction force increase with the tension and the sample width, but it is rarely influced by the testing velocity.3.Through the comparison experimentst, the frictional differences between both directions and both sides of the fabric were investigated. It was found that, for most woven fabrics, the friction force in the warp-wise was larger than in weft-wise, and the fiction force on the face is larger than on the back. The FMD on the face was lager or close to the back. For most kints, the fricional difference in the two directions were not significant. The transverse fricion force was slightly larger than the longitudinal one, The difference of fricion force on the two sides were also not significant, and the difference of FMD on the two sides was mainly influenced by the structure.4.At the following testing parameters: the testing velocity was 500mm/min, the contact area was 60cm~2, the tension was 200cN for the woven fabrics and 60cN for the knits, 74 kinds of common woven fabric and 25 kinds of common kints were tested rubbing with human skin. The test data of these frction pairs, including static and dynamic friction forces and FMD, was statistically analyzed for woven and knitted fabric separately. With the help of the SPSS statistical software, the influence of material, yarn texture and fabric structure on the friction characteristics was analyzed by the methods of single correlation and stepwise linear regression. The results indcated that the material had influence on the fricional properties; The fricion force and FMD of the Short-fiber fabrics were larger than those of the filament ones, but there was no significant difference in FMD for the above two kinds of fabrics. FMD was not significantly related to the fabric structure parameters; The friction force between pure-cotton woven fabric and skin was significantly influenced by the diameter of weft yarn and the distance between warp yarns in the fabric; There was a catergory of cotton-like woven fabric among the Non-pure cotton short-fibe rones, whose friction characteristics were much like the pure-cotton woven fabric; The friction force between pure-cotton woven fabric and skin was significantly influenced by the diameter of weft yarn and warp yarn; The friction force between pure-cotton woven fabric and skin was significantly influenced by the diameter of the weft yarn and the distance between arp yarns in the fabric, The friction force between kints and skin was significantly influenced by the course wise density; The main factors that influend the friction of theplain knit fabric force were the longituadinal density and the yarn diameter.5.20 volunteers, including 10 men and 10women, aged from 20 to 30 were recruited to rub with 12 kinds of common fabric, of which the woven and knitted fabric were in equal portion. The influence of gender and body feature on the friction characteristics was also analyzed. The results indated that,in the same age group,The fiction force and FMD between fabric and skin were not no significantly influenced by human weight, age or body mass index.
