ABS resin is one kind of thermoplastics, and it's the grafting copolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. ABS resin has different capabilities such as the tenacity, the anti-impact performance under low temperature, the weather resistance, tense resistance and chemical resistance, rigidity and processablity. ABS products have processable and steady finished size, excellent gloss features, and are used to doing superficial metal-spraying, galvanizing, jointing, dyeing etc. The products are broadly used to automobile, electrical appliance, sport appliance, architecture and commodity. At present, the output of ABS resin is just inferior to polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene, and is the fifth fruitful. ABS grafting polymerization is the key technique of ABS resin producing. At present, the domestic technique of producing ABS is far behind the technique of global main ABS producing companies. Such as the time of polymerization is too long; the energy exhausting is too high, the stabilization is too poor, and it's hard to control the rate of grafting. All these factors made the quality of domestic ABS is worse than the import ABS productions.This thesis studied on the technique of ABS grafting polymerization, and the main motive is decreasing the time of polymerization so that we can get a better production. We gradually finish lab experiments, medium-sized and industrial experiments. On the premise of assuring the quality of ABS resin, by improving the solicitation and the process flow,we reduce the ABS grafting polymerization time from 8 hours to 6 hours successfully, and produce the proper ABS grafting latex and ABS products. The research result indicate: The oxidation-deoxidize system(organic peroxide (R-OOH)-FeSO4)used as catalysts , and C17H33COOK used as emulsion for grafting polymerization reaction, the reaction time can be highly reduced if the catalysts and emulsion are added by two times with the same total amount. Controlling the latex percentage of grafting latex, reducing the percentage of styrene and acrylonitrile, controlling the adding amounts of catalysts, TDM, and emulsion, the rate of grafting can reach above 50%. At the same time producing quantities of dissociation SAN can be reduced, which made the ABS powder and SAN granule dissolve with each other well. The percentage of latex block is below 1%. The reaction time of grafting polymerization reduced to 6 hours. According to the optimized mixing proportion of acrylonitrile and styrene (72:28), the haul-intensity of the producing ABS granule is above 47 MPa, the concussion intensity is between 190 J/m and 250 J/m. This technique runs steadily in ABS Plant of Daqing Petrochemical Company, the product quality is eligible, and it can satisfy the marketing need.
