Multicolor coating is a kind of composite dispersion suspended coating.It comprises of different colors,size and shape of the granular which are incompatible with dispersed medium.It usually contains two or more of the color particles,and can form a variety of color pattems.This article produces a water-in-water multicolor coating by utilizing protective colloid and tackifier composite system to form colorful particles.The effects of tackifier,sodium polyphosphate on the dispersion medium(continuous phase) and of protective colloid and pigment on the dispersed phase(color particles) are studied respectively. Further,the performance of multicolor coating is characterized.Specific conclusions obtained are as follows:1.In the dispersion medium,Na-tackifier can acquire the best results into forming granules.Sodium pyrophosphate is the most effective to reduce the viscosity of dispersion medium.As a kind of inorganic dispersants,sodium pyrophosphate reduces the dispersion medium viscosity by minishing the particle size of tackifier in water. According to the amount range of sodium pyrophosphate most wide, Sodium pyrophosphate redounds to more accuratly adjust the particles size and strength.2.In the dispersed phase,non-ionic protective colloid is selected into pigment composition in favor of stability and improvement of its viscosity.In order to achieve the best results,choose pigments different amount according to their different types.The thickening effect of organic pigments is significantly higher than inorganic pigments.3.In order to facilitate the control of production processes,prescribe the viscosity of each group in multicolor coating production.Those are as follows:Color components Ku∈[120,130],dispersed phase Ku∈[90,100],dispersion medium Ku<60.Each group is more than prepared to use after the procedure would require to meet the scope of the provisions of the viscosity.4.High shear rate and long mixing time will reduce the colorful particles,on the contrary,will produce large colorful particles.The granule shape will change with the different shear mode of the stirrer oar.The effects of additives on multicolor coatings:Plasticizers can change the flexible of the colorful particles;different Defoamers have significant impacts on the viscosity of the multicolor coating system.5.The best ratio of the multicolor coatings:dispersed phase is 35%, dispersion medium is 35%,varnish / paint is 30%.The amount of dispersed phase can adjust between 0-40%,dispersion medium and paints need to make the corresponding adjustment.
