The producing of many parts in the engineering depend on foundry. It can produce many large and complex parts. The key step for prodcuing with the method of foundry is to design the mould, the casting system and the technics parameter of the mould and other factor affect the quality of the final casting, if the technics is not appropriate, theere will be some defects in the casting. And it will affect the capability of the casting largely. The establishment of the traditional foundry technics accord to the experience. If there will some defects form in the sample, usually, we mend the mould according to the experience and change the technics parrameter when there will be somo satisfactory result. Obviously, this method decrease the efficiency largely and increase the cost. besides, the result must not reach a satisfactory result.As the enhancing as the capability of the computer hard wear, the developing as the softwear, the technology of the CAE is applied on the foundry production. Applying with the CAE technology change the mending method of the tradition. Only by the biusiness CAE softwear can analysis and simulate the reallity forming situation. Though it won't possibly express the total forming course perfectly, the arithmetic of the numerical value improves constantly, especially lots of professional softwear with powerful function is produced constantly, and the simulate situation are more and more close to the real level. At the same time, by putting the improvement of the simulation result into engineering really make a good effect. So it decrease the the production cost, short the producing and developing period, and enhance the efficiency largely. The technology of the simulation value play a good role with the directing for the technics optimization in the casting course.This paper constructed the 3-D moudle and the foundry technics drawing of the product in the CAD softwear, and then import these drawing into the CAE softwear to simulation. Analysis the designing course of the casting system of the exaust manifold, and then analysis the course of the filling and solidification of the casting. We analysis the position of the defects by the posttechnicsing of the softwear, then mend with correspond technics according to the theory analysis. It really remove the defect; meawhile, express three method of the casting system for the thin shell flange, by analysising the effects to the forming of the casting of every method, select the most reasonable csting system. So the CAE technics make a large effect on selecting a reasonable casting system or technics parameter and optimizing technics parameter to produce high quality casting.
