Decorative adhesive is one of the necessary materials in construction, decoration and other industries. One type of decorative adhesive has been developed with SBS grafted with thioglycolic acid in this paper with a modification agent of terpene resin and solvent of gasoline and acetone. This adhesive has many advantages including high initial adhesive strength, high conglutination strength, excellent durability, improved technical performances, low cost and innocuous environmental effect. The influences of preparation technics on comprehensive properties of the adhesive is researched systematically. The relationship of humidity condition, glass transition temperature, peel strength and water uptake of the adhesive joints are developed.The results show that reaction conditions of SBS elastomer grafted with thioglycolic acid has important influences on systematic viscosity, shear strength, peel strength and glass transition temperature of the adhesive. All of glass transition temperature, peel strength, shear strength, chemical composition, surface structure and surface carbon content show a good time-temperature equivalence characteristic between humidity aging time and temperature when the adhesive is exposed to heat ageing or humidity and heat ageing. Both adhesion strength and improvement of the adhesive durability are influenced evidently by different motheds of surface treatment. The water diffusion coefficient, Gibbs free diffusion energy in the adhesive joints are the lowest and the adhesive durability is the highest when the adhesive is treated by silane couple agent.The relation model of glass transition temperature, peel strength, wateruptake and humidity aging condition of the adhesive join is developed in this paper, and it can be used predict performances such as glass transition temperature, peel strength of adhesive with different ageing temperature and time.
