Conversion utilization of agricultural and forestry wasters is the priority theme of science and technology development planning of china. Phenol liquefaction technology is an important way to achieve conversion utilization of agricultural and forestry wasters. Although the research of liquefaction technology and structural characterization is more, technological study pursues low residue rate, structural characterization study is not complete and mechanism study is not deep enough which restrict the further use of liquefied products. The paper select peanut hulls which are resource-rich as research object. Peanut hulls are found rich in lignin of the chemical constituents and easy to liquefaction of the structural characteristics, on which base the paper regards reducing the phenol / peanut hulls weight ratio as the target and the residue as a reference index to improving process. With this method liquefied product of replacement rate of 30~100% are obtained. The structural characteristics of liquefied product analyzed by FTIR and NMR show that lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose of peanut hulls were decomposed in different degree by phenol liquefaction, their ether bonds and ester bonds are breaked and react with phenol which form a series of phenolics intermediate product. The mechanism of liquefaction is clarified from the role of the catalyst, liquefying agent, cosolvent, time and temperature for the first time. The technology of the resinification of the liquefaction product is discussed further and the resin products with low-cost and high-performance are obtained. The characteristics of resin product analyzed by SEM, DSC, FTIR and NMR show that the resin is similar in structure with traditional phenolic resin and also has biomass characteristics, its curing temperature is lower and the curing reaction is fuller and has high reactivity. The bonding process of peanut hulls phenol liquefaction product-formaldehyde resin is discussed at last. The physical and mechanical properties of container floor prepared by the resin in optimal bonding process conditions are higher than the national standard. Compared to traditional phenolic resin and larch tannin adhesive, the resin has more excellent aging resistance and lower cost.
