With the rapid development of economic globalization after the Cold War,a variety of global challenges have become significant issues on the international arena, among which the global environmental challenges are quite typical. On the one hand, only through the effective cooperation among countries can the issues be handled;on the other hand, interactions in this field among different nations have gradually become one of the key elements affecting the relations among nations.China and the United States,as the largest developing and developed country, are indispensable in the process of global environmental cooperation;while there exist both bilateral cooperation and divarication between the two countries. Moreover, with the deepening of bilateral interaction in the filed of global environment, the very issue has increasingly become one of the core issues in the Sino-U.S.relations,displaying new characteristics of the bilateral relations. This essay describes and summarizes the multi-level institutionalized interactions as the distinct characteristic of the Sino-U.S. interactions in the field of global environment after the Cold War,discusses both the achievements and problems in the process of institutionalized interactions through the case study on the issue of climate change, and explores the key characteristics and challenges of the Sino-U.S.relations in the future. The essay figures out that the Sino-U.S.multi-level institutionalized interactions in the field of global environment after the Cold War reflect the Sino-U.S.bilateral governance diplomacy with issue areas as drive, interaction mechanisms as support, and responsibility sharing as core, and reveal the important tasks including considering the other's interests, improving interaction institutions and enhancing mutual trust regarding the further development of Sino-U.S.relations in the furore.
