Resource renewability and environment pollution are two major problems that influence the current development of the warp sizing.The common size for warp sizing is mainly comprised of starch,polyethylene alcohol and acrylic size. Starch and modified starch,as natural substances,which have a good biodegradable property and wide sources,have been one of the main sizes of the warp sizing.But it is difficult to renew the starch when they were desized from the fabric.Although PVA,as a size with excellent property,has solved many problems regarding sizing,it pollutes the environment badly and its biodegradation process takes 900 days.Hence,it is indispensable for us to develop one size which has good biodegradation and renewability but won't give rise to the above mentioned problems.Acrylic size with its changeable molecular structure is the right one.For above mentioned reasons,this paper tries to find a new size which has not only the basic properties for the warp sizing but also good environmental friendliness and renewability in line with the needs of the time.Research about environmental friendliness and renewability has not be widely carried out.The polymerization takes place between four monomers, that is,AM,AA,BA and MMA on the condition of initiating agent APS and emulsifier A/B.The element and level of the quadrature experiment is confirmed by the one-gene experiment. Hygroscopicity,adhesion force,intensity,etc.are tested to confirm that the size meets the requirements of basic property of the warp sizing.The size is recycled by concentration and used in the second warp sizing.Relevant properties are tested to conclude they meet the requirement of renewability.The property of biodegradation is indicated by testing the copolymer's BOD5,CODCr and their ratio.The result is the copolymer with excellent biodegradation is environmental friendly.
