At present,the production of small and middle-sized die forgings are mostly carried out in the screw press,and the design of forging process is important in the production.The traditional forging process has been designed by technicians throUGh using CAD software,which has many shortcomings.The rapid development of manufacturaing industries demands the forging inductions to meet new requirements:low-volume,multi-species,faster updates, supply emergency and high quality.However,the designation of traditional forging process is sobottleneck that it is difficult to meet the above-mentioned requirements.Take this background as starting point,this paper firstly introduces the development of CAPP system and the application of secong development of UG technology at home and abroad;secondly,introduces the basic processes of forging design and sums up the determine method of various process parameters in designation;finally,introduces the overall structure of CAPP system used in this paper,describes in detail the specific performance and technology development of each module,and demonstrates the practical value of CAPP system throUGh the forging process designation of gear blanks.The paper studies CAPP system of the axisymmetric body die forging by the using of VC++,UG and redevelopment technology,SQL database tachnology.The main results are as follows:1.Realized the parametric modeling of die forging and thus greatly decrease the modeling time;2.Established the process card templates under the UG enineering graphics which can rapid input information such as process knowledge,technical requirements and designers;3.Established the tolerance database and dock with UG platform which assures the tolerance quick marks and saves the trouble of manual look-up table;4.Built the mouds datebase and achieved the automated generation of forgings mouds;5.Accomplished the modular design of CAPP system and each module is relatively independent.The main advantage is that the improvement and re-design of a modules will not affect the work of other modules.The CAPP system of the axisymmetric body die forging on screw press can greatly avoid repeated work and thus reduce the labor costs,it can also save technology design time,reduce the manufacturing cycle and ultimately improve the economic efficiency.At the same time,the establishment of the CAPP and research results in this paper can provide a reference for the further development of manufacturing automation.
