Ca(OH)2 was used to modify the fly ash,the objectives of this paper were to confirm the main influence factors of F- and Hg2+ adsorption on the fly ash,to reveal the adsorption capacity, kinetic and thermodynamic characteristics, and to investigate the thermodynamic law of co-adsorption of F- and Hg2+ on the fly ash before and after the modification treatments. Finally, the adsorption mechanism was discussed combining with literatures. The results showed that the dynamic and thermodynamic characteristics of F- and Hg2+ adsorption on the fly ash could be adequately described by the pseudo-second rate equation and Langmuir equation;the maximum adsorption of F- and Hg2+ on the fly ash increased after the treatment by Ca(OH)2;F- contributed more to absorption of Hg2+ on the fly ash and modified fly ash;and it is possible that F- and Hg2+ can be co-adsorped on the fly ash and modified fly ash.
