As a kind of important moulding material, Cr12 mould steel can be applied in the moulding parts widely. The wearing and tearing of moulding parts has effects on the life of mould in great degrees and increases the cost of mould repairing. The technology of welding and spray, which are usually used in mould repairing, are hard to ensure the life of mould. The laser cladding technology is more available, practical and flexible than other surface working methods.After the powder layers of nickel-based alloy, nickel-based alloy plus 25 percent tungsten carbide and Stellite6 alloy have been put on the surface of Cr12 mould steel, the laser cladding experiments of single lane and continuous lapping lanes have been carried out on the powder layers with various technological parameters and the experimental results are analyzed in this paper. Main contents are:the development trends and application situation of laser cladding technologythe technological requirements, design scheme and objective of the laser cladding experimentthe integrating complexion of the interface, the composing of the cladding circumscription and the microstructures of the laser cladding layerthe measurement of performance of the surface wear-resistance of laser cladding layerthe distribution of surface micro-hardness of laser cladding layerthe mechanism of cracking and the method of preventing cracks of laser cladding The results show that:The experiments of Cr12 mould steel laser cladding can be carried out on the powder layers with nickel-based alloy and Stellite6 alloy. Good metallurgy interface can be achieved under the appropriate technical conditions. The wear-resistance of the laser cladding layer can be enforced obviously.The cracks of laser cladding are mainly related to the big remaining stress inside the material after laser cladding, and the cracks of the laser cladding layers can be reduced with the method of regulating stress state, optimizing the cladding techniques'parameters and appending the element of alloy.
