Room temperature ionic liquid is a kind of liquid catalyst material that appears just in the last few years. As a substitute of volatility organic solvents, room temperature ionic liquids are attracting more scientists' attention. The ionic liquid, as one of the most promising green solvents, is widely used in separation, organic synthesis and catalytic reactions. The main advantage of the ionic liquid lies in green enviornment and the plasticity of the structure. We can change its cation and anion to synthesize special catalyst for certain reaction. This paper mainly study on the applications of room temperature ionic liquid as a green solvent and catalyst for n-buttyl arylic ester synthesis. At present, the ionic liquid in the esterification limited to research on fatty acids and the research on the ionic liquid as a green solvent and catalyst for arylic ester synthesis are less, this project is to design series of ionic liquid, to study the reaction on the base of n-butyl benzoate. The paper main reserch on the reaction and characteristics of aromatic esterification in the ionic liquid [Bmim] + PF6-, explorating and researching the methods, characteristics and laws of aromatic esterification in the ionic liquid, and screening the new method of aromatic esterification. The results show that: 1) Ionic liquids [Bmim]PF6 showed excellent catalytic activity to the esterification reaction between aromatic carboxylic acid salts and bromoethane under the following conditions: n (aromatic carboxylic acid salt): n (bromoethane): n (anhydrous sodium carbonate) = 1:1:2, reaction temperature 35℃, reaction time 3 h. 2) Ionic liquids [Bmim]PF6 and [Bmim]BF4 all showed excellent catalytic activity to the esterification reaction between aromatic carboxylic acid salts and bromobutane under the following conditions: n (aromatic carboxylic acid salt): n (bromobutane): n (anhydrous sodium carbonate) = 1:1:3, reaction temperature 40℃, reaction time 4 h.For esterification reaction of substitution butyl benzoate, the electron-withdrawing groups on the phenyl ring is helpful while electron-donating groups is unhelpful to esterification reaction. 3) In the ion liquid [Bmim]BF4, the productivity of esterification reaction between n-butanol and benzoic acid under different catalyst conditions differ very greatly. Among them, the catalyst effect of molecular sieve and DCC/DMAP is the best. The relative oder is molecular sieve>DCC/DMAP>Al2(SO4)3·18H2O>(NH4)Fe(SO4)2>AlCl3>FeCl3·6H2O>AlC l3·6H2O >SeCl4>I2. The influence of water is great. It is very important to remove water in time.
