Ceramic injection molding has the advantage of producting parts with small and complicated shape, which is worthwhile to be widely spread. The key of CIM is fabrication and rheology evaluation of feedstock. Studys on rheological of feedstock include influences on the feedstock's flow of powder character, binder, shear rate, powder loading, temperature, pressure and so on and influences on debinding and sintering of feedstock with a certain of viscosity. At present, many researchers have studied the influences of binder, shear rate, powder loading and pressure on the viscosity of feedstock and established some classical models. However viscosity model is full of personal character and model which is suitable for CIM don't appear. Moreover, each model is about the effect of one variable on viscosity. There are some model about the relationship of powder loading and viscosity. It isn't enough that only powder loading is used to analyze viscosity because viscosity of different powders are different though with the same powder loading. So it is an inevitable factor that powder character has an influence on the viscosity. According to this problem, this paper will analyze the effect of various factors on viscosity of feedstock and establish rheology model applied ceramic powder. This paper research the effect of power on the viscosity of feedstock by surface area of powder. By changing the factors, such as shear rate, powder loading and surface area of power, we measured the change of feedstock flow and quantitatively discussed the effect of powder loading, surface area and shear rate on viscosity of feedstock..Studying the treatment process of powder can acquire powder of different surface area. Many factors which include particle size, size distribution, surface area, bulk density, the slope angle of powder, all affect homogenization and flow of feedstock. Original powder isn't suitable for feedstock because its size is very small and surface area is great, which conduces glomeration. Zirconia and Alumina powder were improved character by calcining, bolling and surfactant. This paper studied the effect of different treatment process on powder character and concluded the optimized treatment technology of Zirconia and Alumina powder.Studied rheology of feedstock from theoretical field, basing on the experimental results. Combining effects of various factors on viscosity of feedstock, viscosity model which include powder loading, surface area and shear rate was established. The model showed accordance with experimental results. The model has practical significance to the control and optimization of Ceramic Injection Molding.
