Excessive mining activities resulted in large area of abandoned lands and serious eco-environmental problems. Accordingly ecological restoration was widely considered as an emergent countermeasure for mining impacted environments. In this paper, application of mycorrhizal technology for revegetation of metal mine tailings was proposed and evaluated. According to the characteristics of the iron tailings, series of pot experiments were conducted to reveal the potential role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in plant adaptation to the harsh environment and the effect arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in revegetationThrough the experiment of potted plant, mycorrhizal effects on growth and mineral nutrition of soybean and zea-mays growth in metal tailings were investigated. The results indicated that the amount of microbe and microbial activity increase evidently, and the soybean and corn express strong dependence on mycorrhizal fungi. The soybean and corn inoculated three different types of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi biomass of shoot tower 36% than the contrast,and biomass of root tower 90% than the contrast. The mycorrhizal infection rates reach 35%~45%, the plants shoot absorbed N, P, K was duplation to those not inoculate. Besides, there are 10g, 25g, 50g mycorrhizal fungi on the set for this test. The results indicated that soybean and corn that inoculated 25g mycorrhizal fungi can absorb higher content of alkali-hydro nitrogen, rapidly-available phosphorus, rapidly-available potassium is higher than CK. This described that biological activity are better utilized when inoculating 25g mycorrhizal fungi, and including promote plant growth, enhance absorption of mineral nutrition element.Tests prove that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can enhance absorption of mineral nutrition, ensure plant growth in iron tailings; effect of absorb mineral nutrition element are different for the same inoculation mycorrhizal fungi applied in grow different plant or the same plant tested by different inoculation mycorrhizal fungi.
