Chongqing lies in Southwest China, which has rich mineral resource,And the varieties are great and the production is very large,Addtionally Chongqing is in the heart of Three Gorges reservior region. So the growing industrial activities in Chongqing will affect the environmental safe of this region directly or indirectly. Among which the environmental pullution caused by the exploration and use of large amounts of associated mine.Associated mineral is all kinds of mineral containing higher level of natural radioactive matter besides of the necessary components. These natural radionuclides will lead radioactive pollution to to the environment when they are migrated, concentrated and diffused during processes of exploit, refining, machining and utilizedThe systemical research on the present pollution status of associated mineral is lack in China due to some historical reasons. This is the case in Chongqing and there is be short of the relevant basic dara. Therefore this paper began from the element factors of radioactive environmental pollution during the exploit and use of associated mineral. According to the relevant principles, 737 minerals were slected as study objects from 4473 minerals, which involved 38 districts and counties and 17 kinds of minerals. The main contents of this paper are: analysis ofγradioactive dose rate , nuclide specific activity of mineral and waste scraps and radon concentration in mineral, mineral area and water environmental; analysis of the generation reason of some associated mineral and the pollution chain; preliminary discussion on the administration of associated mineral.The results show that (1) the radioactive level of mine of V and Al is significantly higher than the background value; (2)as a whole, the radioactive level of the mine of coal,Fe,Pb-Zn,PO43-,Ba and grantic is slightly higher than the background value; (3) the radiation level of the mine of silex, fluorite, barite, Sr, Mn, dolomite, limestone and marble is lower than the background value. The radon concentration of the selected mineral aera and the radioactive level of mine water are both higher than the background value, which will do some harm to miner and public. And the paper suggested that some msasure should take to dealing the high concentration radon in some mine.Generation reason of the associated radioactivity of the mine of coal, V, PO43- and grantic was analyzed briefly in this paper. Meanwhile the important environmental problem may occuring during the use of the mine of coal, PO43-and Ba was discussed. And the following equations were proposed as the administrative limits of associated mineral in Chongqing based on the national dose limits, residence factors and the conversion coefficient of radioactive dose:Finally 40 mines were determined as associnted minerals based on the results of this paper. And the work of this paper is a basic research on the association mineral in Chongqing and will provide basic material for the administration of associated mineral.
