Tray column is one of the important mass-transfer equipment in chemical industry. In order to adapt to the continuous changing of the production requirements, the developing of valves with superior integrative performance has become the key to the development of the valve tray. In recent years, a lot of scholars are putting their energy in studing the new valve, and many novel trays have appeared frequently.This paper introduces one newly developed novel floating valve tray: slipping plate-type trapezium directed floating valve. It combines the advantages of trapezium directed valve, float jet valve with slipping plate-cage and many other valves.The hydraulic behaviors of three kinds of valve trays(â… ,â…¡,â…¢style) were tested. The valves were fixed with slipping plate of different open area. The experiment was carried out in a column of ID1200mm with air-water system. By changing the weir height, regulating the gas and liquid flow, the experimental data were gettable under different conditions.The experimental results showed that the integration performance of the slipping plate-type trapezium directed valve tray was better improved. It has the characteristics as follows: lower pressure drop, weeping rate, entrainment and enhanced turn up and down ratio. The pressure drop increases with the increasing of weir height, liquid intensity and F0 factor; the weeping rate increases with the increasing of the weir height and liquid intensity and reduces with the increasing of F0 factor; the entrainment increases with the increasing of F0 factor and reduces with the increasing of weir height and liquid intensity. By comparison, it can be found as follows: in the three kinds of valves the integration performance ofâ…¡style valve is the best. By comparison with the F1 valve, the pressure drop, weeping rate, entrainment and the enhanced turn up and down ratio are better than the F1 valve.Based on the experimental data the correlative equation can be got for calculating pressure drop, weeping and entrainment.The results in this paper can be applied in engineering design.It can bring about better economic benefit.
