The dyeing process and dyeing behavior of polyether sulfone fibre with disperse dyestuffs was studied in this paper. The dyeability mechanism of this fibre under high temperature high pressure and normal pressure was investigated. The dyeing effect was evaluated by dye uptake, K/S value, color fastness, building-up and migration properties. Results showed that dyeing PES (polyether sulfone) fibre with Dianix MF dyestuffs at 130℃for 1 hour, the dyeings featured above 90% dye uptake, above 4-level fastness to washing, rubbing and light, satisfactory compatibility but the building-up and migration properties of the dyestuffs were not very good. After dyeing the tensile strength of the yarn has dropped about 9%. Carrier dyeing process of PES fibre is carried out with Foron RD dyestuffs and Dilatin POE .The optimum dyeing condition was dyeing under 90℃for 60min with 0.8 g/L of the carrier Dilatin POE. Dyeing under the optimum condition, the dyeings featured about 80% dye uptake with the K/S value above 22, 4-level fastness to washing , rubbing and light, except the fastness to light of Foron Brill Red RD-BR which was only 3-level. The dyestuffs have satisfactory compatibility and migration properties, but the building-up property of the dyestuffs were not very good. After dyeing the tensile strength of the yarn has dropped about 9%. Dyeing PES fabric with Disperse Navy HGL use hot-melt staining method, the dye uptake can be 76% with severely contraction of the fabic. The color fastness to washing and rubbing reached up to 4-level, but the fastness to light was only 3-level.
