Batch polymerization process is a special chemical procedure in industry. It is often used to produce products of small batch, long-time reaction or used in the process with strict requirement for temperatures during different stages. It is also the research hotspot because of its characteristics, such as time-variant, non-linear and complication in reaction mechanism. Most control system of batch reactors are controlled by simple control strategy at present. However, the update for control system and optimization of manipulate process gain more and more attention for the fierce competition in the market and product quality improvement as well as the requirement of energy saving and pollution reduction. Batch reactor is the key operating unit in batch polymerization process, preheating of materials is the first step in the operation of polymerization process, whether the temperature of materials can be heated in accordance with the requirement of chemical process has directly influence on the product quality and productivity. Therefore, to build an accurate model of a specific object and optimize the operation unit is significant to realize the automation of manufacture process.According to the characteristics and process requirements of the polymerization process, this essay has done research and analysis on the reactor of 50L in Liaoning key Lab of Advanced Control System for Industrial Equipment, divided the process into two parts, adopted distributed method of modeling, built a dynamic model between temperature of reactor and heating power and heating time of resistance based on heat balance principle and heat transfer relation. Then it estimates the parameters of the model by LM algorithm and proves its efficiency by experiments. Finally, the preheating process of the reactor is optimized according to process requirements for the purpose of energy saving and product quality improvement. The result of optimization is also analyzed. The model of optimization is the base of on-line simulation, control and optimization algorithm. It's proved that this work could not only meet the requirement of energy saving but also improve temperature rising slope, which provides references for real manufacture industry and lay an important foundation for the purpose to realize the integrated optimization goal.
