| The United Nations Environment Program States that out of the ten most important ecological problems, the four most pressing are biodiversity and global warming, ozonosphere destruction, and the transfer of hazardous wastes. Biodiversity has a close relationship with mankind's life and development; human society relies on biodiversity to ensure its existence and continued development. Biodiversity provides us with food, medicine, clothing, shelter, etc; it is not only the main object of farming, forestry, animal husbandry and the fishing industry, but also a source of major industrial raw materials. Besides, the protection of biodiversity plays an important role in soil viability , water conservation , and climate regulation; maintaining biodiversity maintains ecosystem stability.China is rich in biodiversity. However, due to natural and man-made reasons, China's biodiversity has suffered serious losses and damage. The conservation of biological diversity is one of the most urgent issues facing China. China is currently involved in the international biodiversity conservation community and has joined the many biodiversity-related international conventions and organizations. Domestically China has formulated a series of relevant biodiversity conservation laws and regulations. These laws were initially formed to protect biological diversity. However, implementing these laws has exposed some problems. In light of our analysis of biodiversity and national legislation, and in view of the inadequacy of the legal protection of biodiversity, also because of international conventions and foreign legislation , China must compensate for legislative loopholes. By intensifying biodiversity legislation China can effectively protect its biodiversity. |
