Temperature distribution of the steam in wellbore is the base of the analysis of thermal stress of insulation tube and case tube, and the design of thermal packer in thermal recovery field. The delicious description is given to accurately obtain the parameter distribution of steam, the temperature of the packer and the insulation tube, the injection parameters, and the heat loss. Based on the heat transfer, thermodynamics principles and the theory of two-phase flow, the mathematical model describing the heat transfer and flow processes of the two-phase flow was developed to obtain the distribution of temperature, pressure, quality and heat loss profile for the steam.A new thermal resistance model for the earth is presented, and the temperature profile near the connector is obtained with the consideration of thermal boundary condition for the steam flow. The heat loss profile is analyzed for different cases of insulation. The insulation effect is estimated for the two insulation projects, the insulation tube and dual-tube and for different medium in the annular and different wellbore structure of strips respectively. The comparison between the measured and calculated results by the presented model shows the high accuracy of the thermal dynamic analysis model with the maximum relative deviation of 4.14%, which is well acceptable in in-situ project design.
