With the advancement in science and technology, the complexity, the accuracy and processing efficiency of products are demanded highlier. In order to produce high-quality and high-performance products, the advanced machining equipment develops rapidly. At present, five-axis machine tools are applied most widely in high-speed and high-precision machining. In CNC system of 5-axis machine tool, interpolation technology is the most crucial. The forms,accuracy and speed of interpolation decide the complexity, accuracy and processing speed of parts which are machined by machine tool. With Interpolation technology developing rapidly, many foreign NC systems have the advanced interpolation instructions. In the domestic NC systems , the advanced interpolation instructions is singular, but the pace of development is obviously. So, researching and developing the advanced interpolation technology is very important. This paper studies the interpolation technology of NURBS,CUBIC-Spline and AKIMA- Spline curves in 5-axis CNC system. Mainly in the following aspects:(1) Analyzing 5-axis CNC machine tool structure, and making simple analy-sis and research on space-movement and post-processing of 5-axis machine tool.(2) Analyzing and researching the theory,nature and characteristics of NURBS curve,CUBIC-Spline curve and AKIMA-Spline curve. Giving the reasonable interpolation arithmetic of five-coordinates spline curve, as well as the performance analysis.(3) Giving the NC code format of five-coordinates NURBS-spline curve,CUBIC-spline curve and AKIMA-spline interpolation,and researching their decoding.(4) Developing a test simulation system on VC + +6.0 platform to verify the nature of spline curve, correctness of NC code format and arithmetic of five-coordinates spline interpolation, as well as precision of the interpolation.
