Pentachlorophenol (PCP) is a typical kind of chlorinated organic pesticide. It is also a kind of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which can cause cancer, monstrosity, and mutation. As one of the seven biggest rivers in China, Haihe River has been severely polluted recently. Studies show that pentachlorophenol has become more than other organic pollutants. As a result, to control the pollution of pentachlorophenol has become vital for the pollution control in Haihe River. A method for the determination of PCP is established after comparing SPE, LLE and USE.Ultrasonic, photocatalysis and membrane are combined for the first time to develop a self-designed Recirculated Membrane Ultrasonic Aassisted Photocatalytic Reactor (RMUPR). Performance of the membrane system is tested, and a method to control the velocity of the output is determined.Pentachlorophenol in aquatic solutions is treated in RMUPR. The study on kinetics shows that the combination of ultrasonic and photocatalysis significantly enhances the degradation speed. Pentachlorophenol can be effectively treated by ultrasonic assisted photocatalysis. The reaction within 60 min follows first-order kinetics model.Fast-slow two stage first-order kinetics model is used to describe the dynamics of ultrasonic assisted photocatalysis treatment of pentachlorophenol for the very first time. The model describes the degradation quite well.Photocatalytic degradation of PCP in aquatic solutions was designed by Response surface method (RSM). A quadratic model was validated to be significant. The analysis of variance(ANOVA) for regression model tells the model is good, besides, the predicted results of RSM and its experimental values are close to esch other. The model also tells the best operation conditions to get the biggest degradation rate.
