Super activated carbon(Maxsorb)as a high-tech and high value-added products,surface area up to 2200m2/g above,and more porous,pore size distribution concentration,high absorption capacity,and micro-porous opened to surface directly,adsorption path short,more effective absorption centers,and fast desorption characteristics,except as a general use of activated carbon,super activated carbon can also be used to double-layer capacitor electrode,catalyst support,gas separation and storage of gas adsorption etc for many special purposes.As a result of this high surface area of activated carbon superior performance,scholars are increasingly aroused the keen interest in all countries, a hot topic on a new type of absorption material.As a major coal province of Shanxi,rich coal resources for the development of activated carbon industry has provided favorable conditions.Therefore expand variety of activated carbon,enhance scientific and technological content and enhance product development,coal-based activated carbon market in Shanxi will increase its competitiveness.In this paper,Super-activated carbons were prepared by KOH activation with orthogonal design from three typical coals of Shanxi which were Datong bituminous coal,Yangquan anthracite and Jingcheng anthracite.The optimum technics conditions were determined by values of CCl4 the carbons absorbed.In addition,effects of ash on property of coal-based activated carbon were investigated by different demineralization processes on coal-based activated carbon including pretreatment and post treatment as the reason of high ash content of coals.The results indicated that,the activated carbon,of which the absorption values of CCl4 and BET surface area respectively reached up to 3301mg/g and 3000m2/g above,were prepared by Yangquan anthracite pretreated under the experimental conditions of activated temperature of 830℃, activated time of 120min and ratio of alkali / carbon of 5/1.Under the premise of the appropriate coal determined,inspected the different activations(NaOH and a mixture of NaOH and KOH)on the performance of activated carbon adsorption.The results showed that the activation effect of NaOH junior to that of KOH,the author through the use of Yangquan Coal activated by NaOH,the highest absorption values of CCl4 reach up to 2800mg/g above.And the mixture of the NaOH to KOH as active agents conducted a preliminary study.At the same time blending coal study will also be done by Datong bituminous coal and Yangquan anthracite,test results showed that the blending coal be able to adjust the pore structure of activated carbon products, significantly improved adsorption performance of activated carbon.By the two type of coals as a certain ratio mixture,preparation activated carbon BET surface area is not much change,but excellent adsorption effect,CCl4 adsorption results can be reached 3000 mg / g above.
