Spiral bevel gears are one of basic mechanical units to transmit motions between two concurrent axes. Because the transmission has such merits as the big overlap ratio, the high loading capacity, the high transmitting efficiency, the stability, the small noises and so on. They are widely used in automotive vehicles, planes, machine tools and all kinds of machines. Because the transmission of spiral bevel gears is a dot contact, and the transmitting of numerical control milling-gear machine is very complex and difficult to select machine parameters, the research of the theory of engagement is very useful.The numerical control milling-gear machine,"YJK2212B", produced by Soochow Jiangcheng CNC Precise machinery Co.Ltd, is the object in this paper. The start and end location of cut is analyzed, in order to improve the efficiency of the production and to ensure the integrity of gear's surface. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. To expatiate the theory of cutting small-modulus spiral bevel gear and concepts of octoid crown gear first. Then the transmission chain of mechanical milling-gear machine is analyzed, and problems of it will be indicated.2. To analyze the framework of numerical control milling-gear machine-"YJK2212B", and the theory of machining. According to it, the coordinate ransform systerm between numerical control axes is founded, which results in the eduction of tooth flank equations of a pair of gears and the mesh equation of between octoid crown gear and workpiece gear.3. In accordance with basic parameters of spiral bevel gear which will be machininged, such as number of teeth, module, Spiral angle and so on , bring forward the choice method of cutter parameter.It confirm the parameter of fixing and adjust numerical control milling-gear machine when machining workpiece gear.4. Under the condition of machining workpiece gear practicality, bases the equation of surface of revolution of cutting blade and the connection between cutter axes and workpiece axes in numerical control milling-gear machine, this paper research the the start and end mesh dot parameters of spiral bevel face of workpiece gear ,and corresponding cutter angle of position. This paper bring forward method of calculate .It provide theoretics of confirming the angle of swing.5. In allusion to spiral bevel gear this paper have a example calculate ,obtain the he start location and end location of the angle of cutter positon,and compare with the parameters which machined in Soochow Jiangcheng CNC Precise machinery Co.Ltd.The parameters which are calculated are less than the parameters which are practical machining.This prove that obtained angle of cutter position by the method in this paper enactment the range of cutter swing that make for shortening empty order of cutting and improve the efficiency production of numerical control milling-gear machine.
