There is an increasing worldwide concern for environmental protection and for the conservation of non-renewable natural resources. For this reason the possibility of developing alternative energy sources to replace traditional fossil fuels has been receiving a large interest in the last few decades. Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) are generally classified as biodiesel fuels which are produced by a catalytic transesterification of fats and oils, waste oil with methanol. The main advantages of using this alternative fuel are its low viscosity, high flash point, high cetane number, nontoxic and biodegradable advantages,it reduce the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases. To solve global warming, acid rain and human environment improvement, the realization of sustainable economic development, biodiesel is of great significanceA study was first made for the homogeneous catalysis reaction of transesterification of vegetable oil by means of methanol, using NaOH. The operation variables such as the molar ratio of methanol to oil, catalyst concentration, temperature, and time has been studied,a preliminary study for the reaction of the structure of different fatty acids was made, optimical reaction condition was selected, kinetic equations were received in optimical reaction condition. Based on this, the heterogeneous catalysis reaction of transesterification by means of methanol, using 2Na2O.SiO2 , has been studied. The operation variables such as the molar ratio of methanol to oil, catalyst concentration, temperature, and time has been studied, optimical reaction condition was selected, kinetic equations were received in optimical reaction condition.. Comparison of kinetic parameters in different catalysts conditions was made..Various performance indicators of biodiesel basically reached Chinese, American and the European biodiesel standards in this study, which made them a good substitute for diesel fuel.
