The population has important status and function in the regional sustainable development, good population condition is the essential condition to realize the regional sustainable development. If the population element harmonized with regional resources,environment and economy , that will be favorable to implement the gener- al goals of regional sustainable development. Combined with the actual situation of the Qitai oasis,This article uses the metasynthesis method which combined with both qualitative and quantitative methods, analyzes and evaluates the interactive coordinated condition of sustainable developmen between population and resources,environment and economy in Qitai oasis, and aiming at questions, the author puts forward concrete countermeasures. Full text including seven parts:The first part: Introduction. This part introduces the causes for choosing this topic, describes research goal and research significance briefly, and reviews the researches between populations and resources,environment,economy at home and abroad briefly, describes prime tasks and the frame of the paper.The second part: Introduces the sketchy circumstances of research area, introduces the natural condition and society-economy situation of research area in detail,summarizes historical evolution and essential feature of the population in Qitai oasis.The third part: Mainly studies the carrying capacity of resources to population and social economy in Qitai oasis, and probes into the carrying capacity of land resource and water resources.Uses the research mentality and the computational method of the relative resources supporting capacity, takes Xinjiang and the northern border area as the reference areas, this part analyzes and researches changes of relative carrying capacity of resources from 1993 to 2005; in studying the change of carrying capacity of water resources, first chooses major indexes from the established index system by principal components analytic method , uses entropy method to evaluate weight of the indexes , then analyzes and evaluates carrying capacity of water resources of research area by synthetic scores of the carrying capacity of water resources.The fourth part: First elaborates that population density of the Qitai oasis has already surpassed the population density critical value of the United Nations′s drought,the semi-arid region, shows that the stern relations between population and environment; Then discusses the influences to the groundwater environment which produced by developing and utilizing water resource; Moreover, analyzes natural and human factors which causing land desertification in Qitai oasis, and proposes the countermeasures to prevent land desertification.The fifth part: analyzes the coordination of population and economical sustainable development. Especially uses employment equilibrium coefficient to research the relationship between employment and economic development,and uses elastic coefficient to show the coordination degree between population and the economy. and proposes the countermeasures to promote coordinated development between population and economy in new time.The sixth part: Uses the gray connection method and utilizes the coordinated development model, reveals the coordination between population and resources- environment of the Qitai oasis from the time angle quantitatively. The research indicates that the Qitai oasis should take the sustainable development as the principle, choosing coordinated development pattern on the benign interaction.The seventh part: describes main conclusiones, and proposes questiones and insufficiencies of the article.
