| The continuing demand for high performance and low vulnerability of ammunition in the advanced weapon system makes insensitive high energy propellants the most promising trend of gun propellants and charges in the 21st century.The development of low vulnerability gun propellant in domestic and abroad was analyzed. The paper pointed out that the insensitive high energy propellants is the third stage of vulnerability development. The system with high energy fillers, energy binders and plasticizer can meet the insensitive and high energy requirement.The paper has carried on screening to the component of gun propellants. From the perspective of insensitive high energy propellants, the designation takes thermoplastic urethane elastomer based on RDX and GAP and A3 as the main component explosive propellant system; in view of powder force,forming work and gun tube life , the paper has carried on screening to the formulation of insensitive high energy propellants , and found that gun propellants shows its good overall performance when k=0.24, m(RDX)=80%-85%, and have higher power force .In this paper, the polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer based on GAP was synthesized, and the performance of different R and different content of hardware were characterized by DSC, et al. The results show that the samples have good properties when R=0.98, r=40% and R=0.98, r=45%, the thermal decomposition temperature were all 250℃, the glass transition temperature was -30.70℃and -29.80℃, tensile strain were 69.36% and 62.30% , and tensile stress were 6.13Mpa and 5.18 MPa.To reduce the mechanical intensity of high energy filler and enhance the adhesiveness of binders, high-energy filler was coated by a form of micro-capsules. The characterization of the coated high-energy micro-capsules filler was studied by means of FT-IR, SEM and Laster granularity meter. The result shows that there is a layer of coating in the surface of high-energy filler and the major components of the coating is energetic polymer. After achieving coating, the characteristic fall high of the two high-energy fillers were increased from 25.8cm to 50.1cm and 53.9cm separately.
