| The material in the barrel of injection molding machine usually transforms from unconsolidated powdery or granular solids into continual homogenized melt under the processes like heating, compaction, mixture and so on, which is called plasticization. As increasing use of the engineering plastics with higher temperature and higher viscosity, and polymer materials with higher percent filler, the plasticizing system of injection molding machine is to be optimized. As we know, plasticizing system is the key part of the injection molding machine and the screw is the key part to the plasticizing system. So the capacity of the screw means the capacity of the machine as well as the quality of the injection product. Plenty of literatures show that previous studies on injection screw focused on the designing of the screw, selecting of the parameters, and the enhancement of plasticizing capacity of the screw while very little attention is paid to the evaluation method of the plasticization. In fact, people usually judge the plasticizing capacity of screw by old theories and experiences, which is far from enough as the industrial technology developing so rapidly. So a new effective way to evaluate the plasticizing capacity of the injection screw is expected.This paper is aimed to solve the problem mentioned above. It has studied the related theories and done lots of experiments to establish an evaluation system to assess the plasticizing capacity of the injection screw by analyzing the capacity of the screw both qualitatively and quantitatively. Following are the main points.1, Set up the experimental injection machine platform. Be familiar with the operation of the machine; choose proper materials and corresponding screw. Design and manufacture the mold for samples according to the standards about testing mechanical properties of plastic products.2, Choose the proper processing parameters for injection molding according to the polymer material, its brand and related information. Study the effect that processing parameters make on the plasticizing process. Give the reference parameters of different material for injection process by the analysis of the apparent quality and its macroscopic structure of the sample gained from the experiments.3, Using JCRZ intelligent sensor for deflecting couple and rotational speed to measure the parameters like energy loss and plasticizing time during the plasticizing; analysis the production and energy consumption with different screws to distinguish the differences in plasticization effected by screws, and finally put forward a way to evaluate the plasticizing capacity and specific energy consumption for different screws. 4, According to corresponding test standards, test the samples' mechanical properties like tensile strength and flexural strength, find the sensitive factors and evaluate the plasticizing capacity with different screws.5, Build up an evaluation system to assess the plasticizing capacity and energy consumption of the three screws by analyzing the plasticizing output and mechanical properties of the samples. |
