The main purpose of this thesis is to improve the properties of PET fiber. The ordinary PET fiber was modified by adding some kaolinite into the filature solution. The impact of different content of kaolinite added was studied, and a suitable filature process for this fiber was made. The structure and properties of kaolinite modified PET fiber were investigated by moisture regains, dyeing properties, UPF, SEM, XRD etc. Also, the difference between ordinary PET and modified PET was studied in this paper.The results show that kaolinite modified PET fiber still has good filature performance, and it also can improve the processing performance after filature. Compared with ordinary PET fiber, kaolinite modified PET fiber has good performance in moisture regains ,dyeing properties and anti-UV performance. But since the crystallinity decreased , the mechanical properties of modified PET fiber also decreased.
