| With the help of remote sensing technology and remote sensing image SPOT5 as the main information source, based on field survey, the paper extracts forest land information in Wuqi County. And through applying programming tool of Arcview GIS,VB and Avenue, it builds ecological environment database of Wuqi county, designs friendly user's operation interface, and realizes the function of data browsing, query, editing, statistical and the checking of spatial data and attribute data for each other in database, which creates the condition of further monitoring the ecological environment in Wuqi county. With this background, the paper analyzes the forest landscape pattern in Wuqi County using the information of the database. The result shows:1. In the forest land, the area of the forest land is 31211.7 hm2, open forest land is 1691.3 hm2, shrubbery is 111357.45 hm2, suitable forest land is 89710.38 hm2, nursery land is 89.64 hm2, and underage-forest is 77950.65 hm2, which account for 10.02%,0.54%,35.68%,28.75%,0.03%,24.98% of the forestry land area respectively. Forest coverage has reached to 8.75% in 2005 from 7%, increasing 1.75%, comparing with the statistical results in 1986.2. The vegetation landscape diversity of Wuqi County is not abundant. Forestry landscape is the matrix of the whole research district, in which the shrubbery occupies a leading position. Both the second and the third level landscape have the space of promoting their landscape diversity. The area with forest land should be improved in the concrete work, which means the specific gravity of young growth and coniferous trees should be improved to strengthen landscape diversity.3. The patch density of underage-forest landscape is 4.95/100hm2, and the relative fragmentation degree is low. Considering form the landscape, the county should strengthen the fragmentation degree and prevent making the forest land with single varieties of trees in large area, in order to protect the plant from diseases and pests.4. Landscape types with worse ecology stability include suitable forest land of the second level, and pine young growth, cypress young growth and hard broadleaves young growth of the third level landscape. In the real work, they can be classified as key working target, in which, the pine young growth, cypress young growth and hard broadleaves young growth need to be protected and even extended, in order to transform to patch type around promoted by the suitable forest land.5. The value of spread degree in the third level landscape is the greatest, which shows the same types of the forest lands are relative near, which is apt to result in the misdistribution of forest resources in the research district. People need to pay more attention to it.6. The vegetation landscape pattern of Wuqi County is in the state of changing. The formation of the landscape pattern is mainly caused by natural reason and artificial disturbance, and human activity is the mainly driving force. Although this research district with large area, complex topography, serious soil erosion, lack of water resources causes few arbors landscape and many bush and grasses landscape, the project of conversion of cropland to forest implemented by the country makes the obvious effect in recent years, changes of vegetation landscape are being taken place enormous regarding people as the main driving force. This research indicates, under the influence of human activity, underage-forest landscape has accounted for 20.56% of the research district, suitable forest land is transforming to other forest, and the coverage rate of forest is increasing constantly.
