Stainless steel material is widely used as a bulk material in the Construction of Chemical Plant. Considering the drastic increasing material price in recent years, it is the rational and feasible way to reduce material usage and its cost in the construction of chemical vessel and pipes by applying thin wall stainless steel material. In terms of material cost, wall thickness of stainless steel material has major influence. Thin wall thickness is a comparative definition that main wall thickness of material used in Chemical, Bio-pharm and Food Industry is less than 3 mm. Thin wall stainless steel material is not only used to the requirement of process, but also to reduces the weight (quantity) of stainless steel material. So the ratio of Cost to Function of Thin wall material is much higher than other bulk used engineering materials. Nowadays thin wall stainless steel material is more appreciated in Chinese Engineering Sector as well.Domestic construction companies have already been well trained on specific welding practice of thin wall stainless plate or belt in the fabrication work of atmospheric vessels in the imported industrial plants recent years. For a quite long time, poor application of thin wall material on atmospheric vessel is resulted from conservative design concept of Chinese Engineering Sector. Because of the wide and increasing use of atmospheric vessel in various Industries, it is necessary to enhance the capability of its engineering and application.Thin wall pipes are rarely used as industrial pipes for fluid transport in local chemical plant. But with the fast development of thin wall pipes or tubes material in the past years in China, it is conducive to apply the material as pipes for chemical fluid transportation due to its favorable physical properties and high ratio of Cost to Function. With the consideration of technical development on Chemical Engineering, it is necesary to adopt thin wall pipes or tubes into the standard Piping Specification in Chemical Engineering Sector.
