The investigation is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 50573060).RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) is a typical kind of liquid composites molding technics. In the RTM technics, how to determine the permeability of reinforcement exactly is a key point to simulate the fluxion of the resin in reinforcement and design the process. It has important significance to solve the disfigurement caused by inadequate impregnation, enhance the controllable capability, and use the simulation to design the process. It also has significant influence on the development of composites manufacturing techniques.In the investigation, an experiment installation was designed for the study of planar unidirectional unsaturated permeability. With this installation, the injection under the constant pressure can come true, and the pressure of different position can be get in the experiment.Then use the installation to determine the planar unidirectional unsaturated permeability of the reinforcement according to the Concurrent Permeability Measurement Procedure (CPMP). The traditional method and the interpolation method were compared to deal with the data. Analyzed the relationship between the permeability and the configuration, the volume content of the reinforcement. Analyzed influence of the capillary action and edge effect to the measurement of the permeability and the quality of products.According to the permeability got from the experiment, used the commercial software RTM-Worx which was based on FE/CV to simulate the experiment process. The simulation result is basic anastomosis with the experiment. And the error between the simulation and the experiment was analyzed.With the compare of experiment and simulation in this paper, we can know that with the right parameter, the simulation method can predict the RTM process exactly. It also proved the importance of nicety determine of the permeability.
