Poly(Lactic acid)(PLA)/Wood flour compounds were prepared by simple melt extrusion, the effects of the wood flour content, various coupling agents and their content, different compatibilizers and their content on the mechanical properties, thermal properties, rheological properties and the interfacial morphology of the blends have been investigated in detail.Results showed that PLA/Wood flour had a poor interfacial strength. The addition of silane coupling agent can improve interfacial action, but cannot increase the composites'mechanical properties.MAH-PE and EGMA as compatibilizer can increase the composites'toughness, but decreased composites'rigidity. EGMA were more effective. KH560 was best coupling agent in PLA/wood flour/EGMA composites.Liquid epoxy is also a good compatibilizer, which could observably improve the composites'rigidity.The high performance composites can be obtained using EGMA and epoxy as the binary compatibilizer. TGA results showed that the stability of composites slightly decreased compared with that of pure PLA.The crystallinity of PLA increased with the addition of wood flour and KH560. The stability of the composites slightly decreased with adding wood flour.Rheology test indicated that the complex dynamic viscosity, storage modulus and loss modulus of the PLA/wood flour composites increased with the increasing wood flour content.
