Glass is an important building and decorating material that widely used in various fields because of its special characteristic such as transparent, reflected, polychrome and shining. Its market potential is much huge. The technology of the glass deep-processing is correspondingly laggard in China. The advanced automated glass grinding equipment is nearly dependent on import. But the price of these machines is high, the cost of maintenance is expensive, It can not satisfy the requirement of domestic corporations. So the in-house development of automated glass grinding equipment is of major significance. The CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machine center, in which the key technology is CAD/CAM and CNC, is the high-tech equipment developed by Zhejiang University and Hangzhou Huadi machine Ltd.. There must be developed special CAD/CAM system for the special glass grinding technique. This paper's task is to research and develop on the CAD/CAM system for the CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machine center which base on characteristic of glass grinding and CAD/CAM technology.The paper analyses and designs the CAD/CAM software which is successfully developed and applied .for the CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machining centre by object-oriented method. The primary content of the paper include:Chapter 1 is the introduction. The background and signification of the research are expatiated, The development of the domestic and the foreign NC glass grinding CAD/CAM system is introduced and the object-oriented CAD/CAM design method is discussed.Chapter 2 briefly describes the CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machine center's characteristic, structure, performance and technical features and introduces the work principle of this machine center.Chapter 3 is the design of the system as a whole. It does requirements analysis of CAD/CAM system, offers two basic class objects which include graphic and path by object-oriented method, analyses the relationship between relevant function modules and basic class object. At last the user interface of CAD/CAM system is designed.Chapter 4 introduces the design and implement of function modules which operates two basic class objects and illustrates the key technologies of CAD/CAM system for glass grinding.The optimization of processing path based on genetic algorithm and the compensation of buffing wheel are realized. Chapter 5 includes the test and maintenance of CAD/CAM system for CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machine center and It gives tow the practice samples. The research indicates that the CAD/CAM system designed in the paper is effective and feasible.At last the research content is summarized and the prospect of the CAD/CAM system for CNC Varied-Shape glass grinding machining centre is forecasted.
