The multi-rope skip hoisting machine is a important equipment to coal minng, It is payed more attention for the safe and reliable running of hoisting machine by people. The unloading condition of the skip has the tremendous influence to the stable running of hoisting machine. There are several type of unload skip, such as the automatic unload in curve rail, the pneumatic and hydraulic vertical strobe unloading skip. As the limitation of the well cross section, the skip is usually designed into a cuboids container with lesser cross section, and even longer for the larger capability. No matter what kind of unloading mode, in the unloading process, there is still more or less coal adhered inside the skip, due to the structure of skip, the size of the bulks, and the humidity of the coal. Once the skip is running down underground with coal, the skip may slide down when applying the decelerating brake or safe brake, and even an accident happened. The accident of the hoist system is generally serious and interruptive. Considering of these problems, usually, an operator is assigned to inspect whether the skip is unloading empty. An accident is happened easily because of people's subjectivity. Therefore, it is important and essential to realize the automatic detection for the unloading equipments.Application ofγ-ray level gauge in unloading skip is introduced in this paper. Based on the research into the theory of the mechanism of theγ-ray in level of material detecting and the theory ofγ-ray in counting numbers, the design project of the detecting system of the unloading skip is confirmed; After a serious of relevant experiments, the gating voltage and relative parameters of the discriminating ware were fixed, the hardware and software designs of the detecting system were realized as well in the detecting system. The laboratorial test of theγ-ray detecting system shows:γ-ray detection can detect the unloading position of the skip truly. Theγ-ray detecting system shows high accuracy of measurement and anti-interference performance, low cost and easy to handle.The monitoring system of this design is composed of the master computer and the slave MCU. PC is used as the master computer, and PLC is used as the slave MCU. This detecting system using windows for the development platform, and Visual Basic 6.0 for the development tool, to realize the software program of the whole detecting system. Realized the real time data collect of the unloading skip, drawing the real and historical curve, accomplishing the unloading skip monitor by means of VB 6.0.This system has some characters, such as friendly interface, easy operation, good intercommunion between human and computer, topping automatism. So the system has more value in use.
