Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the one of five biggest general plastic. It is provided withhigh intension, plasticization effect, endure cauterization, hard of burning, good insulation,high transparency and so on. The product of PVC is applied in architecture, chemical industry,electric equipment and packing widely. However, it is indispensable to add thermal stabilizerinto PVC resin in order to prevent PVC decomposing for its quite weak heat stabilization. Atpresent, the thermal stabilizers are mainly composed of abio-lead salt, metal soap, organo-tinwhich are used in common in industry. But all of these thermal stabilizers have heavy metalpollution. And the more PVC products are used the harmer it will be. Therefore, it is one ofthe most important urge that replace the conventional heavy metal thermal stabilizer withdeveloping a new-style thermal stabilizer without metal. The novel polymeric organic thermalstabilizer which is investigated in this paper is such a stabilizer without metal.The dissertation is based on design of macromolecule structure. The thermal stabilizerwas prepared via the nitration of the low MW polystyrene, followed by reduction of the nitrogroup and reacted to Acryloylisothiocyantes group. This novel polymeric organic thermalstabilizer named Acryloylthiourea grafted polystyrene (AGPS). We studied the infection ofthe different reactant ratios to the degree of nitration when the polystyrere was nitrified. Thena series PS-NH2 With different concentrations of amidocyanogen were' gained by reducingPS-NO2. At last the high active acryloylthiourea were grafted on the amidocyamogens. Thechemical structure was characterised by FT-IR and elemental analysis. And the heat stabilitywas tested according to national standard GB 2917, and the satisfy result was obtained.This stabilizer obtained the properties of equality decentralization, good heat stability,good compatibility and high stabilization efficiency. It almostly achieved the aim of thisstudy.
