With the short of petroleum and some environment and security problems of synthetic dyes,People have great interest in nature dyes again. Nature dyes are reproducible and biodegradable, and nature dyes have some functionality. Wool is natural protein fiber, it have superior properties, such as fine elasticity, strong hydroscopic property and good heat insulating ability. Wool also can biodegrade in nature, it is green environmental protection fiber. Therefore it has important significance to study the preparation and the application on the wool fabrics of nature dyes.At the basic of reviewing classification of nature dyes and current application situation, this paper chooses madder, catechu, sargentgloryvine stem belonging to the red plant dyes as studying objects for people have little study on the three nature dyes. This paper mainly describes the extraction of the three red plant dyes and their dyeing properties on wool fabric. According to every natural dye's property, this paper first selects different solvents and extractions, and chooses the best method of extraction according to the color characteristic value of dyed fabrics.Afterward this paper adopts CARY 100 Conc-spectrophotometer and thermal analysis to study the three red dyes'stability properties to heat, cid and alkali. This paper also uses hplc-ms to measure the chemical composition of madder. This paper investigates the influence rule of the dyeing parameters to the fabric and optimizes the dyeing procedure. The dyeing parameters include temperature, ph value, the dosage of aluminum mordant and the dosage of the three dyestuffs. At last it studies the anti-microbial activity and fabrics hand of the dyed wool fabric with the three dyestuffs. The result shows that the dye solution of madder, which is extracted from madder with ethyl alcohol after madder had been fermenting for 24 hours, can dye the redder and deeper color on wool fabric; the dye solution of madder is stable for 2 hours in boiling water, its stability to acid is good, whereas its stability to alkali is weaker. The optimized dyeing procedure of madder dye is that the dye solution of 6ml is used and the ratio of the used dye solution to aluminum mordant is 1: 2 under the dyeing temperature of 100℃and ph value of 4. The best extraction of Catechu is choosing distilled water as solvent, the bath ratio is 1:40, extracting 3times, the extracting temperature is 100℃and the extracting time is 30 mins. The catechu pigment heat-resisting stability and its stability to acid are good, whereas its stability to alkali is weaker. The catechu pigment uses the non-mordant dyeing method to dye the woolen fabric can gain redder and deeper color. The optimized dyeing procedure of catechu dye is that, the nature dye amount used is 7.5% (o.w.f), dyeing temperature 100℃, pH value of 6. The best extraction of sargentgloryvine stem is choosing distilled water as solvent, the bath ratio is 1:50, extract 1h, the extracting temperature is 100℃, extracting 3 times. The sargentgloryvine stem pigment's heat-resisting stability and its stability to acid and alkali are good. The sargentgloryvine stem pigment's dye fabric adopting post-mordant dyeing with aluminum ion can gain redder. The sargentgloryvine stem optimized dyeing procedure of is that The nature dye amount used is 50% (o.w.f),dyeing temperature 100℃, pH value of 6. The wool fabrics which dyed with the three nature dyes have inhibitory activity against staphylococcus aureus.
