In the thesis, chitosan nanoparticle was prepared and was used to modify the Bombyx mori silk yarn and fabric. The feasibility of silk yarn modified with nano organic material was investigated, which provided theoretical base for developing functional silk with ultramicro material.Firstly, Low molecular weight of chitosan was prepared by H2O2 oxidative degradation method. With the low molecular weight of chitosan, chitosan nanoparticles were prepared by the ionotropic gelation method in acetic acid system and citric acid system, respectively. And the effect on distribution of chitosan nanoparticles by the factors(pH, span-80, TPP, storing time and weight percentage of citric acid) was investigated, as well as the structure and properties of the modified B.mori silk yarn and fabric.Results show that chitosan nanoparticles both in acetic acid system and citric acid system were achieved by the ionotropic gelation method. Compared with chitosan, the crystallinity of chitosan nanoparticle dropped slightly. The conformation of silk yarn treated with chitosan nanoparticles in both systems had the trend ofβ-sheet and the crystallinity, thermodynamic stability, mechanical properties of silk yarn increased. Also dyeing behavior to reactive dyes and acid dyes, antibacterial performance and wrinkle resistance of silk fabric were improved after treatment. And the whiteness of treated silk fabric decreased a little. Compared with the treatment of chitosan nanoparticles and that of chitosan, as for filling property on the silk, the former was better. But as for mechanical properties of treated silk yarn, there was no difference between them. The dyeing behavior, brightness, wrinkle resistance and antibacterial performance of silk fabric treated with chitosan nanoparticles were better than that of silk fabric treated with chitosan.
