This paper tries to study the draping properties of polyester fabrics, in view of thehigher application level of polyester fiber in textile and clothing industry and householdtextile industry. Polyester material still makes up the larger percentage of the market,especially the material for making outside garment and decoration. The draping propertiesof fabric is one of the most important indexes for the materials, therefore, the writer meansto find out the difference between the draping of various kinds of polyester fabric and theinfluence of various physical indexes(e.g, density, weight)upon the suspension, through thetext on the draping of fabrics woven by the various polyester fibers such as DTY,FDY,POY. The method of research is to test the draping coefficient and then compare andanalyze as to find out the main factors of influence on the fabric draping and its laws by thedraping testing on the various polyester fiber fabric and various fabrics of different latitudeand longitude composition and different square meters weight. YG811 instrument isadopted as testing equipment. The achievement and conclusion: The draping coefficient offabric lessens with the increase of fabric's warp and weft density and weight when the rawmaterial composition, the number of twist and composition structure are the same. that is,the draping will become large with the increase of density and weight, fabric draping willbecome good. The fabric draping coefficient will become good with the increase of POYcontent when raw material composition is different and the close, the number of twist,composition structure and gram weight per square meter are the same. The gram weightper square meter of fabric is the main factor which influence the draping properties, whenraw material, the number of twists, fabric composition and post-finishing technology arethe same and similar. It is know that the influence of fabric density and fabric weight islarger than the one of composition structure when density, gram weight per square meterfabric and composition are different.
