N-butyl acetate is of excellent performance as an organic, which is widely used in the phar- macy and the painting. Conventionally, sulfuric acid is often used as catalyst in the esterification of acetic acid. But many problems exists, such as too much secondary reaction, serious corrosion, complicated final treatment and pollution. A new technology of reactive distillation with solid acid was put forward. The equilibrium stage model was used to simulate the process of n-butyl acetate synthesis, and experiment has been done with strong acidic cation exchange resin. The macroscopical kinetics of n-butyl acetate synthesis reaction was investigated with stro- ng acidic cation exchange resin. The parameters of kinetics were measured, and the effect of rea- ction temperature on reactive rate was also studied. The kinetic equation based on the experiment for describing the synthesis of n-butyl acetate was obtained. The equilibrium stage model was used to simulate the process of n-butyl acetate synthesis. The result of simulation is as following:23 stages in reactive distillation column(the first stage is condenser in top) ,acetic acid fed from 12th,n-butanol fed from 23th and circumfluence of water at 20th,reflux ratio is 5.7, reflux ratio of organic phase is 0.25.The concentration of n-butyl acetate in top is about 97%,n-butanol is only 0.84%,and the concentration of HAc is 0.003% merely. The high-purity n-butyl acetate(≥99.9%) can be got easily on the condition of leaving out the process of neutralization.Experiment was done used reactive distillation column of 40mm in diameter, investigated the effect of technics parameter on process. The experiment data were in good agreement with the calculated result.
