| There are different kinds of noncontinuous faces inside rock mass, such as joints, beddings, fractures etc; the noncontinuous faces have changed the characteristics of strength and deformation of rock mass notably. It causes the different strengths between rock piece and rock mass. Therefore, before the supporting design as well as reinforcement design to the roadway, it is very important and necessary to test the structure of rock mass.The paper's purpose is that deepening the recognition to roadway stability by studying on coal and rock mass and knowing the effect on the roadway deformation, delamination and destruction by the geometry and Mechanics parameter of surrounding rock structure. It is clearly understood that the rock mass structure plays an extremely vital role in the roadway distortion and the destruction.Lots of tests in mine have been made. Using the advanced Mine electronic borehole observation instrument, the borehole structure observation has been carried out in different tunnels of typical mines. This paper gives the classification to the test results and proposes five kinds of surrounding structures.The numerical simulation analysis and the on site measures in mines indicate that the different Structure types affect surrounding rock stability, and the surrounding rock structure geometry parameter and the mechanics parameter affect the deformation and destruction of the surrounding rock. Therefore the different supporting design should be applied according to the roadway different rock mass structure to achieve the good supporting effect. Only if we complete to the rock mass structure observation and understand and grasps that the rock mass structure has vital functions to the roadway stability, these can truly provide the reliable basis for the roadway supporting reinforcement design. |
