With the progress of science and technology and the rapid development of woodworking industry, diamond woodworking cutters arose in the world, which was used for processing high rigidity man-made woody compound material Because of high rigidity and complicated cutting edge shape, diamond woodworking cutters are difficult to be processed by ordinary grinding machine and are mostly processed by electrical discharge machining technology. According to the characteristic of wire cut machining for diamond woodworking cutters and at present the status quo and developing trend of wire cut electrical discharge machining (WEDM), special multi-coordinates high speed WEDM machine tools for diamond woodworking cutters is developed, which has important significance in improving the level of national woodworking industry. And with the simple description to open architecture numerical control (NC) system and present state and developing trend of wire cut NC system here and abroad, open architecture NC system based on PC is founded for wire cut machine tools.From above two points of view, a special NC revolving platform for WEDM is designed, and the open architecture NC system based on PC + motion control card is studied in this paper. Furthermore, NC dividing revolving platform is adopted as the fifth axis, which can realize automatic division while processing cutters. Moreover the development of total NC system is classified into two sections: hardware and software. Upper computer application software is programmed by the other members of project group, so this paper mainly involves hardware design and software development of the dividing control card for revolving platform.In the hardware design of control card, firstly PCI interface is realized by using the CH365 chip; secondly AT89C51 microprocessor is selected as the core of dividing control card and the relevant application technology is studied, and then 8255A chip is used for data exchange among microprocessor and CH365; at the same time, some anti-jamming measures are taken to improve the stability of the system; at last, a control card circuit to supply a hardware foundation for the total NC system is designed.The software design of dividing control card mainly includes design of drivers program and microprocessor control program. By using Windows Driver Model (WDM) and VC developing environment, the drives program and the system managing function of PC are completed, and the management and inspection of slave computer are realized; the program for speed and position control of stepping motor is completed by microprocessor assemble language. While dividing control card is connected with PC and NC revolving platform, then application program is debugged and the result can satisfy precision requirement.
