The paper's work is the preliminary one of building wheel's design platform.Now, in new product design process of the wheel, the designer doesn't have the right way to forecast the product's life but often depends on experience and analogy which results in material waste. Therefore, the wheel product's design platform is very helpful.The main damage form of the wheel is the fatigue damage due tocycle load. It is the main reason causing wheel's failure. Radial load andlateral load are the steel wheel's main loads, and the lateral load is the,main reason of fatigue damage. This paper mainly studies the steelwheel's bending fatigue damage which is caused by lateral load.This paper uses the finite element method to simulate the wheel's dynamic bending fatigue test. In order to simplify the test, inverting the wheel's load to simulate the wheel's state in the bending fatigue damage test is used. The von Mises stress of dangerous point is used in strength analysis to predict the wheel's life. The nominal stress method and local stress-strain method to predict the steel wheel's life, and the finite element software to predict the steel wheel's life are all studied. Comparing the results and experimental results, using finite element method to predict the wheel's life is feasible. |
