p-tert-Butylcalix[4]arene was synthesized by p-tert-butylphenol and formaldehyde with NaOH as catalyst. Then catalysized with AlCl3, the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene synthesized calix[4]arene by the Friedel-Crafts reaction. Both the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and calix[4]arene examined by IR spectrum and 1HNMR. In the synthesis of p-tert-butylcalix- [4]arene, the influence of nitrogen was discussed, while nitrogen was used both in the reaction of concentrating and refluxing, the yield of the the product was raised from 52% to 55%. The influence of catalyst amount, time, temperature and nitrogen on the product was discussed in the synthsis of calix[4]arene. It was found that catalyst amount is the key factor, and the optimal condition is that react 1.5-2h at room temperature, the mole ratio of catalyst to p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene is 6:1,the yield of calix[4]arene is 83%.Synthesis of p-nitrocalix[4]arene were carried out under three different reaction:①p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene was nitrated by nitric acid;②calyx[4]arene was nitrated by concentrated nitric acid which was dispersed in organic solution;③p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene was nitrated by 100% nitric acid which was dispersed in organic solution. The product was examined by IR spectrum and 1HNMR.Yield, purity and time of the three different reaction were compared, it was found that each reaction has advantage and disadvantage. All the three reaction are reacted at low temperature. The influence of time on product was discussed, when time of the three reaction is respectively 10h,12h and 10h, the optimal yield of 30%,80%,70% and optimal purity of 95%,85%,75% is obtained.Finally, the complex properties of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and TNT,RDX in respectively CHCl3 and DMF solution were investigated by spectrophotometric and spectrofluorometric method. The result indicated that, when p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and RDX were mixed in DMF, the UV spectrum shifted to direction of longer wave length, and A increased, and intensity of PL spectrum was increased,ΔIrel=0.13,all of these indicated that p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and RDX can form stable complex in DMF solution. when p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and TNT were mixed in CHCl3, the UV spectrum and PL spectrum indicated that p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and TNT don't form stable complex in CHCl3 solution.
