Quick detective slip as a new method to detect food sanitary microorganismsdeveloped recently. Filter paper slip and 3M petrifilm slip were gradually ratified bydetection departments and used broadly. But the filter paper was opaque and themicrobes grown on it could not be seen, so the numerical results were alwaysinaccurate. Also gelatin used by 3M company had a bad water absorption. So it wasnecessary to overcome these disadvantages and make a new detective slip for quickdectecting food sanitary microorganisms. In this study a high water-absorbing resinpolyacrylate sodium was synthesized by aqueous solution polymerization, andchecked whether it could be used as the gelling agent of quick detective slip. Toimprove the gelling capability, the Carrageenan which was quick water-absorbing andtransparent was mixed with polyacrylate sodium. According to the design, the otherparts of the slip were selected and the slips were made.1. The chemical synthesis of polyacrylate sodiumThe polyacrylate sodium was synthesized by aqueous solution polymerization. Andthe maximal absorbing water efficiency was 414.1±15.2g/g, absorbing 9g/LNaClsolution efficiency was 46.65±4.01 g/g.2. The studies of polyacrylate sodium's biological capabilityAntiblastic effective experiment with sixteen microorganisms showed no antiblasticeffect; the microorganisms couldn't grow with the polyacrylate sodium as sole carbonsource. Using the polyacrylate sodium gels, the microorganisms could grow on itssurface and formed independent colonies and the colony number was no observablydifferent in statistics compared with agar plates. As a result, the polyacrylate sodiumcould be used as the gelling agent of quick detective slip. 3. The mix of Carrageenan with polyacrylate sodium and the selection of other partsWhen carrageenan and polyacrylate sodium were mixed by 8:1, the gelatin wasformed. Distilled water of 1ml would diffuse to be a circle with diameter 5.8cm. Andthese gelatins were adhered to PET plastic by hydrogels.4. The combination of slipThe slip was combined by three parts: the below part was transparent plastic(L=9.0cm, W=7.5cm, H=0.2mm), and the nutrition and chemical reagents wereadhered to it by hydrogels. The middle part was foam paper which was hollow(L=9.0cm, W=7.5cm, H=0.1mm), the hollow part was a circle(D=6cm). The upsidepart was PET plastic (L=9.0cm, W=7.5cm, H=0.08mm), and the gelatin was adheredto it by hydrogels.
