This is an ever increasing world-wide interest, particularly in developed environmental friendly lubricants. In recent years, the synthesize lubricants technology have big development, and the synthesize lubricants can remain high efficiency and prolong life-span of machinery equipment. In addition, the lubricant additives can improve tribological properties of lubricants. At first the application develops course of synthesize lubricants is introduced from it appearing to popularizing; the definition and concrete classification way of synthesize lubricants; the property of synthesize lubricants which is used in common in recent years are expound in detail, and which are compared with mineral oil, then the economic effect to use environmental friendly lubricants is described in detail. In the second part of the article the effect and property of extreme pressure and anti-wear additives which were used in common are expounded and classified. And the tribology mechanism of additive which contains P or S was expounded also.In order to investigate the friction property and tribology mechanism of additive in EnvironmentalFriendly lubricants, the friction and wear properties of steel ball against steel ball are evaluated using an MMW-1 friction and wear tester under the lubrication of pentaerythritol ester and pentaerythritol ester containing zinc dialkyl- dithiophosphate, sulphurised isobutylene, amine salt of alkoxyl phosphate and ammonium thiophsphonate, respectively.Pass large amount of experiment, the wear scar diameter and friction coefficient with different additive concentrations are compared. However the anti-wear and friction-reducing properties with different additive concentrations and different kind of additive were assessed. And the optimal concentration in base oil and the best kind of additive can be gotten. The morphologies of the worn surfaces of the steel balls were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The impaction of main effect element over the worn surface is studied. The physical chemistry reaction between rubbing pairs and main element are analyzed process theoretically. In addition, the elemental compositions and chemical states of several typical elements on the worn surfaces of the steel balls were examined by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). From the result the reaction production which is get process theoretically will be approved true or not. We achieve the studying objective. At the last part of experimental the combination of additives are investigated, and then the result of blends of additives and other single additives are compared. Afterward we draw a conclusion that a optimal concentration of additive in base oil exist excellent anti-wear and friction-reducing properties.
