The influence of organic loading, hydraulic loading, the ratio of gas and water and the height of filling to removal efficiency of COD, ammonic nitrogen and total nitrogen has been studied in BAF by using the self-confected wastewater. Zeolite bioregeneration has been also studied. The research results show that the removal efficiency of COD, NH3-N and TN is 67~93%, 52~86% and 32~67% under the organic loading of 6.4kgCOD·m-3·d-1, the hydraulic loading of 1~2m3·m-2·h-1 and the air and water ratio of 2~3:1 by BAF.Based on single-factor experiment, Three parameters, the organic loading, the hydraulic loading and the ratio of gas and water, have been chosen to orthogonal tests. The orthogonal tests showed that the effectiveness of the factors on NH3-N removal is characterized as follows: the hydraulic loading > the organic loading > the ratio of gas and water and the effectiveness of the factors on TN removal is characterized as follows: the organic loading > the hydraulic loading > the ratio of gas and water. The rate of zeolite bioregenerate reached 32.73% in 97 hours. It was 18.57% higher than the desorption rate. The rate of bioregeneration in the second filter is only 66.27% of the rate in the first filter. Using two stage BAF can increase the bioregeneration rate over 30%.
