Steelworks production is a process of mixing intermissive with continuous produce style, with characteristics of multistage-production, multistage-transportation, multistage-storage, and cross of ground and space transportation. The production process is continuous basically, but with intermittent. Processing routes are fixed on a certain extent, but there are also many other ways. In such a complex production system, collecting and managing every tache's weight information to give digital support to the management of enterprise quality and production scheduling is very important for the tranquilization and efficient operation of the whole production system.In this paper, complex process and its characteristics in a steelworks are studied. Existing weight collection systems in this steelworks are also studied detailedly. Then, wireless transmission, network communications, serial communications, radio frequency identification, computer networks, databases and ASP are used together to collect and manage the weight information on 138 points overlay the whole production, including jar- troop, desulfuration, sediment-wipe, distill-vanadium , basic oxygen furnace, refine and casting process.Data transceivers are used to transmit the weight information of crane electronic balances to the ground quickly and accurately. Then, collecting stations use network communications and serial communications to collect the weight information automatically. Radio frequency identification technology is used to identify the corresponding among basic oxygen furnaces and cranes automatically. Several kinds of electronic balances'data format is analyzed and unified. Then weight data are calculated accurately. An algorithm is designed to realize the corresponding between distill-vanadium furnaces and cranes. Computer networks, databases and ASP are used together to manage the current and historical weight information of the entire production. For reducing investment and avoiding repeated work, network chooses the Ethernet structure to make the best use of existing collection systems and network resources. Database is standard designed to ensure that the data are integrated and reliable. Then, maintenance plan and job functions are used to ensure the long-term stable run of database. Collecting stations have the functions of inquiring, statistics, reporting and printing so that process managers and staff can know the weight information of molten iron, molten steel, material, casting and so on in time. In order to facilitate enterprise managers grasp the status of the whole production, ASP technology is used to realize the functions of inquiring, statistics, reporting and analyzing. The trashy steel balance is often damage by the huge shocks. A double-decker buffer balance is designed to resolve the problem.In this paper, collection and management of weight information in the complex process is realized by the synthetically application of wireless transmission, network communications, serial communications, radio frequency identification, computer networks and database technologies. It enriches the ways that collect and manage weight information and obtains nicer effect since launching into running.
