Activated sludge process,the biological treatment method of wastewater, with it's good effect and low operating costs ,has been a basic and main method for environmental pollution control. Activated sludge models,which are widely used in design, control,teaching ,research,and other areas, has become an indispensable and important content for designing and operating of sewage treatment plant.The precise division of influent component is the important factor that decides the accuracy and effect of forecast applying activated sludge models, which also is a major challenge to use ASMs at present. The components of ASM1 is the basis of the whole ASMS's components . Therefore the accurate determination of ASM1's components is particularly important.Virtual Instrument is an instrument based on software, any of the latest computer technology, software and production can be used by virtual instrument , so Virtual Instrument can keep the same step with the development of the whole information industry , and on behalf of the developmental direction of designing instrument for measuring . With the successful application of a series of related sensors in harsh sewage environment ,virtual instrument technology will have a very broad application prospects in the field of sewage treatment.Through the introduction of virtual instrumentation technology, the testing equipment is designed to measure the influent carbon components of ASM1 based on intermittent OUR respiratory, virtual instrument hardware system is constructed to determine the influent carbon component of ASM1. To improve measuring accuracy and give full play to the advantage of virtual instrument on high-speed data acquisition and handling large amounts of real-time data quickly , the linear fitting method is adopted to ameliorate the forward difference method,which is usually used to obtain the OUR data.It is overlooked influent concentration of heterotrophic bacteria in ASM1, but as to some systems, the continuous entrance of heterotrophic bacteria would have a visible impact. Furthermore, overlooking heterotrophic bacteria would also caused error to other component. The measuring approach of heterotrophic bacteria is explored for more rigorous and more complete measurement of influent carbonaceous components. A set of software was developed to determine influent carbonaceous component of ASM1 based on LabVIEW—the developing environment of virtual instrument and batch OUR respirometry. So that the level of automatization and precision to measure carbonaceous component r was up,while the complexity of measuring was down.The data acquisition software can acquire dissolved oxygen data and oxygen uptake rate automatically with computer,and then get the carbonaceous organic matter with the calculation softrware.The concentration of oxygen and the change course of oxygen uptake rate were visualized,so the overall process of measurement can be observed.It is explored helpfully to raise the level of automation, accuracy and manipulability of measuring influent carbon components of ASM1 .
